Building on the previous festival session Your Apartment Home: Introducing the Australian guide to choosing an apartment this workshop invites participants to put apartment designs to the test. With the help of the co-ordinators of the Guide, they will critically review apartment plans, thinking about layout usability and orientation.

Lisa King, University of Sydney
Dr. Jasmine Palmer , RMIT University
Lisa King is degree-qualified in both Architecture and Interior Design and has held senior management roles in the construction industry within Australia over the last 30 years. Lisa has been employed by the University of Sydney over the last four years as an Academic Tutor, Research Assistant and as the recipient of Research Grants in the area of social and affordable housing. She actively advocates for inclusionary, accessible and sustainable design. Lisa is currently the Policy and Advocacy Manager NSW for the Australian Institute of Architects.
Dr. Jasmine Palmer is an independent housing researcher with a particular interest in engaging future residents in the design and provision of multi-unit housing, including apartments. She has been invited to teach architecture courses in Barcelona, Beijing, and Berlin, and spent time as a guest researcher in the Collaborative Housing Lab at TUDelft in the Netherlands. With qualifications and experience in architecture, sustainable design, and social sciences her apartment-related research includes projects on family-friendly design, demographics, community resilience, health and wellbeing. Together with colleagues from RMIT Jasmine leads ongoing research on Nightingale Housing projects.
